Job description
Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the development of rugged single board computers and systems. This role focuses on mechanical design and verification, including 3D modeling, drawing creation, analysis, and electromechanical integration. The engineer will collaborate with PCB design, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to develop robust, manufacturable designs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform mechanical engineering work necessary to ensure X-ES products conform to provided specifications
Support development of new products through analysis-driven decision making
Communicate design status across departments and document engineering decisions clearly
Create and review complex 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using Creo
Review PCB layouts for mechanical fit, constraints, and integration within assemblies
Evaluate mechanical FEA results, including modal, shock, vibration, and fatigue analyses, and provide design recommendations
Analyze test data, identify root causes of failures, and recommend design changes to improve product performance and reliability
Document engineering analyses, test results, and technical recommendations, and effectively communicate findings and conclusions to cross-functional teams
Mentor less experienced engineers, provide technical guidance, and review engineering work for quality and accuracy
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Minimum of seven (7+) years of related engineering experience
Strong proficiency in solid modeling and mechanical drawing creation (Creo preferred)
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
Working knowledge of GD&T and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
Ability to work efficiently and independently
Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI
Desired Qualifications
Ten (10+) years of related engineering experience
Proficient in GD&T and tolerance analysis
Experience with simulation tools (ANSYS, Creo Simulate, etc.)
Experience with PCB-mechanical integration
Experience with vibration/shock testing, solder joint durability, or rugged electronics packaging
Experience with programming or scripting languages (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
