The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $64,620 - $80,770. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.
Join Our Team as a Senior Metrology Technologist
The Quality Assurance organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping its internal customers, S&C leaders and team members, deliver superior quality to our customers. Quality planning, inspection, audit, quality information, quality improvement consulting, and quality communications are examples of the kind of services that the organization provides.
The calibration laboratory provides the highest accurate measurements within the electrical laboratory, which meet the National Conference of Standards Laboratories (NCSL) and International Standards of Organization (ISO-9001:2015 and ISO-17025).
In this job you will be responsible for calibration mechanical measuring equipment and managing the calibration process, which includes around 12,000 instruments. The calibration laboratory daily operations are to enter all incoming & outgoing instruments in the asset management system, perform a performance test on all instrumentation and record the data. Additional calibration laboratory responsibilities are to investigate the purchase of new equipment, perform gage R&R, and work with engineering on the correct equipment to purchase. At times, you will have to work with suppliers to obtain an RMA number so equipment may be repaired or sent out for calibration.
The job will also require strong communication skills (Verbal & Written), a high level of software aptitude, technical knowledge, and an organized workflow. When an instrument is out of tolerance, a notice has to be sent out to the owner of the instrument so an investigation can take place. On a regular basis, you will have to send out weekly reminder notices to a variety of team members throughout the organization that equipment is due for calibration. In addition, a monthly report is generated, which is sent to upper level leadership. Since calibrating equipment will be done following procedures, it is a requirement that lab team members will ensure the procedures are updated and entered into the database.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Calibrating mechanical measuring equipment
Data entry for calibration certificates
Updating/ creating calibration procedures
Creating P-Shippers
Contacting suppliers for equipment that needs repair or calibration
Providing technical support for team members on the application of measuring equipment
Sending out weekly reminder notices
Be the representative for the mechanical calibration lab when audited by customers/ ISO certifications
Note: This job is established as a first shift position, however there will be occasional requirements to adjust to an earlier or later start time to support field calibrations
To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following"
Demonstrated ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
Advanced PC skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Advanced knowledge of mechanical measuring equipment
Ability to maintain accurate records
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a service environment
Ability to support departmental team members on short notice
Ability to adjust your start times on a short notice
Ability to represent S&C in front of suppliers and customers
Relevant work experience:
4 years calibration experience or equivalent mechanical experience (ie Machinist, mechanical technologist, Q.A. experience).
MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Standing: Most tasks performed in a standing position with frequent walking.
Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from to 30 lbs.
Walking: Frequent walking short distances (total one to two miles).
Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from to 30 lbs.
Pushing: Regular pushing (on tools or operating devices) up to 30 lbs
Pulling: Regular pulling (on tools or operating devices) up to 30 lbs
Bending: Frequent bending and crouching required
Reaching: Occasional full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees
Handling: Frequent handling of items ranging in size from to 30 lbs.
