Job description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Software Engineer to design, develop, optimize, and maintain enterprise-grade database applications and reusable software components. The role focuses on Oracle database development, performance tuning, application architecture, and continuous integration and delivery across on-premises and public cloud environments.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Oracle RDBMS, advanced PL/SQL development, healthcare data, and enterprise software engineering. The candidate will collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams, DevOps engineers, business stakeholders, and technical leaders to deliver scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performing software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, implement, and maintain enterprise software applications and database components using Oracle technologies.
Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and application design to development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Develop complex database solutions using Oracle PL/SQL and advanced Oracle database features, including BULK COLLECT and bulk processing techniques.
Perform database development, query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to improve application efficiency and reliability.
Investigate and resolve production issues related to database performance, application stability, scalability, and data integrity.
Design and maintain reusable database components and contribute to the continuous enhancement of existing software products.
Collaborate with software engineers, DevOps teams, infrastructure teams, business owners, and project managers to deliver high-quality solutions.
Work with globally distributed and offshore development teams to coordinate technical design, implementation, and delivery.
Contribute to application architecture and ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, security, availability, and maintainability requirements.
Evaluate emerging technologies, third-party products, and architectural approaches to support evolving business and technical needs.
Support and enhance continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and associated development processes.
Configure, maintain, and support CI tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, Bamboo, and CruiseControl.
Use version control and project management tools, including Git and Jira, to manage source code, track development activities, and collaborate effectively.
Follow established software development lifecycle practices and contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve database architecture, development standards, automation, code quality, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in enterprise software design and development, with a strong focus on Oracle databases.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Strong hands-on experience with Oracle RDBMS, database application development, and advanced Oracle database capabilities.
Expertise in Oracle PL/SQL programming, including BULK COLLECT, bulk processing, and performance optimization techniques.
Proven experience in database performance tuning, SQL optimization, query analysis, and troubleshooting complex database issues.
Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture, database design, software engineering principles, and development best practices.
5+ years of healthcare data experience and healthcare domain knowledge.
Experience developing and maintaining software solutions in enterprise and hybrid infrastructure environments.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD implementation and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, Bamboo, or CruiseControl.
Proficiency with Git and Jira for source control, collaboration, and project tracking.
Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, preferably with practical experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to work effectively with globally distributed engineering, infrastructure, and DevOps teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with public cloud and on-premises application deployments.
Knowledge of functional programming concepts.
Experience with DevOps practices, automated build processes, and software release management.
Familiarity with healthcare data processing, data-intensive applications, and enterprise healthcare systems.
Experience evaluating new technologies and recommending improvements to application architecture and development processes.
