Overview
Senior Project Engineer – Building Structures in Albany, NY. The role focuses on leading structural design, analysis, and project oversight for diverse building projects, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
Lead structural design and analysis for new building projects (steel, concrete, masonry, timber).
Perform condition assessments, investigations, and rehabilitative solutions for existing buildings.
Serve as project engineer and task lead, managing scope, schedule, and budget for structural deliverables.
Develop and oversee construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
Coordinate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and other disciplines.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
Perform and oversee QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance.
Participate in client meetings, proposals, and business development efforts.
Support projects through construction administration, including site visits.
Plan workloads and manage structural task budgets and schedules.
Maintain and build strong client relationships.
Specialized Experience Required
Experience with structural design, field investigations, and client coordination.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and structural design software.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam/Adobe.
Strong communication, problem‑solving, and technical writing skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and deliver quality results on time.
Working knowledge of building and design codes.
Specialized Experience Preferred
Interest in mentoring and team development.
NCEES registration and ability to obtain licensure in other states.
Proficient in RISA, RAM, or similar structural design software.
Structural Engineer (SE) license.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering (buildings‑focused preferred).
Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring engineering projects.
Proven experience as a technical lead on projects with successful delivery track record.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
Strong problem‑solving skills; ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
Master’s degree preferred.
Pre‑employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required.
