Location Requirement: This is a full-time, in-person position based in Mentor, Ohio.
Applicants must currently reside within a reasonable daily commuting distance of our Mentor office and be available to work onsite on a full-time basis. This position is not remote or hybrid, and relocation assistance is not available.
Griffin Technology Group is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to independently plan, manage, and execute complex IT infrastructure, systems, networking, and cloud projects for small and midsize business clients.
This is a hands-on, senior-level engineering position requiring full technical project ownership—from initial discovery, assessment, and solution design through project scoping, scheduling, implementation, troubleshooting, client communication, validation, documentation, and handoff.
The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple client projects, coordinate internal resources and vendors, make independent engineering decisions, and take accountability for delivering successful outcomes.
Advanced Microsoft 365 engineering and migration experience is required, including the ability to lead migrations from on-premises environments to Microsoft 365. Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, firewalls, virtualization, and hybrid infrastructure is also essential.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience independently managing and completing complex infrastructure, systems, networking, and cloud engineering projects.
Strong technical project management skills, including scope development, implementation planning, scheduling, milestones, dependencies, risk management, and client communication.
Hands-on experience planning and executing Microsoft 365 migrations, including on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online and hybrid identity environments.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, and Microsoft cloud security.
Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and infrastructure modernization.
Experience implementing server migrations, virtualization solutions, firewalls, VPNs, network upgrades, and related infrastructure projects.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining accurate documentation, clear communication, and consistent follow-through.
Strong troubleshooting skills, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to guide other technical team members.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of progressive professional systems, infrastructure, or cloud engineering experience.
Proven hands-on experience planning and executing production Microsoft 365 migrations.
Demonstrated experience as the technical lead responsible for planning and delivering complex engineering projects.
Advanced knowledge of Exchange Online, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, hybrid identity, and Microsoft 365 security.
Strong Windows Server, networking, firewall, virtualization, and infrastructure engineering experience.
Experience managing technical project schedules, dependencies, resources, implementation risks, and client communication.
Strong technical documentation, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
MSP experience supporting multiple small and midsize business clients.
Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migrations, including email and business data.
On-premises Exchange to Exchange Online migrations and hybrid Exchange environments.
Microsoft Intune implementation and endpoint management.
SonicWall firewall configuration, VPNs, and network security projects.
VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, or comparable virtualization platforms.
Microsoft Azure, backup and disaster recovery, PowerShell, and automation.
Relevant Microsoft or infrastructure certifications.
Travel: Local client-site travel as required for projects, implementations, and technical support
