Black River Systems Company, a small,establishedresearch-oriented engineering firm headquartered in Utica, NY is looking for a Signal Processing Engineer. Wearelookingforsomeonewhocandevelopsignal processing algorithms to detect, decode, and processdigital communication signals.You willparticipatein field tests, signal modeling for operational planning, building, and testing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)systems,suchassoftware – defined radios (SDRs), foruseinprototypesignalcollectionandprocessingsystems.
Position Responsibilities
Performingresearch,design,developmentandproductionofcommunicationsequipmentandsystems.
Abletomaintain,troubleshootandinstallthecommunicationsequipmentusingdigitalsignal processing algorithms
Knowledgeofsatelliteorotherwirelesscommunicationssystems
IncorporatingtraditionalSignalProcessingaswellasMachineLearning(ML)andArtificialIntelligence (AI) techniques
Implementingalgorithmsinhardwaresystemsasresearchprogressestowardoperationalimplementation.
Asrequireddevelopcustomerrelationshipsandotherbusinessdevelopmentresponsibilities
Position Requirements
Bachelor’sdegreeinmath,electricalengineeringorrelatedfieldandindustryexperience is desired.
Abilitytoperformin-depthtechnicalevaluationsofemergingcommunicationstechnologies through analysis and identification of advancement capabilities
ExperiencewithDigitalSignalProcessing(DSP)designormodelingandanalysisofSoftwareDefined Radios (SDRs)
Familiaritywithsoftwaredefinedradiohardwareandsoftwareinterfaces
Developsignalprocessingalgorithmstocollect,detect,andprocessdigitalcommunicationsignals
Experienceinreceiverdesignincludingdigitalfiltering,channelestimation,equalization, demodulation, and decoding.
Proficiencyinsomeorallofthefollowingprogramminglanguages:MATLAB,Python. Familiarity in C/C++ is a plus.
Excellentcommunicationskillsneededtoexplaincomplexsignalingsystemswiththe ability to provide technical support for hardware design.
UScitizenship–musthaveorbeeligiblefora DepartmentofDefensesecurityclearance.
