We are seeking Back End Software Engineers who are passionate about marrying data with emerging technologies and driving a major transformation within Capital One.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using full‑stack development tools and technologies.
Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with new technologies, participating in internal and external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community.
Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud‑based solutions that create powerful experiences for millions of Americans.
Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node.js, Go, and Scala; work with open‑source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, container orchestration services (Docker, Kubernetes), and a variety of AWS tools and services.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply).
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js.
3+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering.
1+ year of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
3+ years of experience in open‑source frameworks.
2+ years of experience in Agile practices.

Compensation and Benefits
Richmond, VA: $144,200 – $164,600
This role is eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, including cash bonus(es) and long‑term incentives. Capital One offers a comprehensive, competitive, and inclusive set of health, financial, and other benefits that support your total well‑being.
