Senior Software Engineer, Graviton Software
The AWS Graviton Software team is looking for Sr Software Development Engineers to optimize performance for Graviton processors. Graviton delivers the best price/performance in AWS data centers. For the past 3 years more than half of the new AWS EC2 capacity is Graviton based and it is used by over 98% of our 1000 largest customers.
You’ll drive performance optimization across open-source projects, internal services, and customer applications, working on everything from Linux kernel development to C++ and Rust code debugging and optimization. Our team works on a diverse range of applications including databases, web services, compilers, video encoding, ML, and HPC workloads.
Hardware related knowledge is useful, but not required.
Key job responsibilities
Performance Analysis and Optimization: root cause and enhance software architectures, algorithms
Optimize software performance for AWS customers and AWS services: S3, Lambda, EMR, ElastiCache, RDS, and others
Open Source Development: contribute to Linux kernel improvements and other public projects
Develop analysis frameworks and automation systems
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing principles
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
