Job description
Senior Solar TechnicianThe Senior Solar Technician will be the experienced field service technician for CSS' operations and maintenance of solar facilities. The Senior Solar Technician is responsible for leading work, training junior technicians, representing CSS in the field, and the safe and timely completion of all service obligations.Essential Functions:Troubleshooting and repairing utility scale solar generatorsLead commissioning, quality assurance inspection, or preventative maintenance work as neededProvide timely Field Service Reports back to Operations staff for delivery to clientProvide on-the-job training to less experienced field staff, be a leader in safe and proper work practicesPerform vegetative maintenance as requiredEnsure a premium level of customer serviceParticipate in weekend and holiday on-call scheduleOccasional overtime work and overnight travel requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to create and support team moraleWorking knowledge and experience operating under OSHA , NFPA 70 E,BExemplary verbal and written communication skillsTeam oriented attitudePrioritizes safety daily, actively participate and lead site safety meetingsGeneral computer, network, and technology proficiencyValues staff development and organizational excellenceFirm understanding of the principles of electrical theory and photovoltaic power generationUnderstanding & experience in the operation and concepts relating to electrical and mechanical trade workMinimum Qualifications:Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record to operate a company vehicle3 years field experience in utility solar PV or 6 years of related experiencePreferred Qualifications:First-Aid/CPR/AEDNFPA 70EOSHA 30OEM certified training on one or more inverter systemsCommissioning or maintenance experiencePhysical Demands:Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds frequentlyAbility to work at high heights with the use of a safety harnessWork Environment:~90% of time spent in-field at utility scale solar facilitiesExposure to weather, extreme heat or coldExposure to native plants and, occasionally, animalsExposure to electrical hazardsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
