Senior / Staff Embedded Software Engineer
Full Time Direct Hire
Milpitas, CA.
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to develop and maintain embedded Linux platforms for next-generation wireless products. This is a hands-on engineering role working closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams on complex embedded systems.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with embedded Linux, C/C++, ARM-based systems, board bring-up, low-level debugging, and hardware/software integration .
What You'll Do
Develop and maintain embedded Linux/RTOS platform software
Design, develop, integrate, and test new embedded software features
Work closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineers on system-level development
Perform board bring-up and troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues
Debug low-level system and platform issues using tools such as JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
Work with device drivers, bootloaders, kernel-level software, and embedded Linux build environments
Read schematics, datasheets, and hardware documentation to investigate and resolve issues
Develop scripts and automation using Python and Bash
Support testing, validation, and manufacturing-related engineering activities
What We're Looking For
5+ years of embedded C/C++ development experience for Senior-level candidates; 9+ years for Staff-level candidates
Strong embedded Linux and/or RTOS development experience
Experience developing on modern multi-core ARM-based systems
Hands-on experience with board bring-up and low-level hardware/software debugging
Experience with embedded Linux cross-compilation toolchains
Comfortable working directly with hardware in a lab environment
Experience reading schematics and component datasheets
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
Nice to Have
Embedded software experience with telecommunications, networking, or other complex hardware products
Experience with internally developed SoCs
Experience with technologies such as Git, Buildroot, U-Boot, ATF, Zephyr, Bazel, gRPC, Protobuf, Rust, or Go
Understanding of wireless communications and digital signal processing concepts
Work Environment:
This is an onsite position requiring hands-on work with embedded hardware and lab equipment.
