Job description

Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our Navy Programs team. In this role, you will lead systems engineering activities across the full life cycle of mission-critical systems supporting U.S. Navy submarines, aircraft carriers, and shore-based platforms, from concept and requirements through integration, verification, and fielding. You will work in our lab and at customer and partner sites as the team develops and delivers both prototype and production systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong command of requirements management, system architecture, interface definition, and verification and validation on integrated hardware/software systems. This position is well suited for an engineer with five to ten years of experience who can own technical work end to end, resolve conflicts between stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers. You will work closely with software engineers, hardware engineers, product leads, and testers in an agile team, and your work directly supports U.S. Navy submarine combat systems.

This is a full-time position based in Middletown, RI. The position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret Clearance. The annual base salary is $125,000 - $134,000, with final compensation based on experience and skills.

In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is eligible for a sign-on bonus and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), Flexible Spending Accounts, Life Insurance, 401(k) plan with matching company contributions, paid time off, holidays, and tuition and training reimbursement.

Requirements

You'll be responsible for:

Leading systems engineering activities across the development life cycle, including requirements analysis, functional and performance analysis, architecture evaluation, trade studies, integration, and verification and validation.

Eliciting stakeholder needs, resolving requirements conflicts, and communicating technical solutions to internal teams and Navy customers.

Establishing and maintaining bidirectional traceability between stakeholder needs, system requirements, design, and verification and validation results.

Developing and managing system interfaces and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) across hardware, software, and external systems.

Planning, executing, and reporting verification and validation activities, including authoring test plans, procedures, and reports.

Identifying technical risks, developing mitigation plans, and tracking them through resolution.

Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior systems engineers, and reviewing their engineering products for quality and completeness.

Required Skills:

U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance at time of hire.

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 5-10 years of professional systems engineering experience.

Demonstrated experience across the systems development life cycle on integrated hardware/software systems.

Strong proficiency with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, Jama, or similar, including building and maintaining traceability.

Experience with system modeling using SysML and tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw or similar.

Experience developing ICDs, system specifications, and architecture documentation.

Experience developing and executing verification and validation plans, procedures, and reports.

Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including briefing technical material to customers and program leadership.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Navy combat or weapon systems, submarine systems, or acoustic systems.

Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) on a program of record.

Experience with RM&A analysis and environmental qualification testing.

Experience supporting system accreditation, certification, or the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).

Experience supporting fielding, installation, or test events at Navy or partner sites.

Familiarity with Linux-based and containerized computing environments.

INCOSE certification (CSEP or ASEP).
