Job description

Experienced Trial Attorneys — Jury Focus Group Moderator

Flexible | 1099 Consulting | Virtual | Evening Assignments

Are you a highly experienced trial attorney who is retired, semi-retired, or simply looking for a flexible way to stay engaged with litigation?

ProspectBlue’s litigation support company client that provides “jury impressions” services is expanding its network of experienced trial attorneys to serve as Moderators for virtual jury focus groups . All work is conducted via Zoom on a remote basis.

This is an opportunity to draw on your courtroom experience and judgment without the demands of a traditional litigation practice.

About the Role:

As a Moderator, you’ll participate in virtual jury focus groups designed to help legal teams test arguments, refine case themes, and understand how jurors respond to complex information .

You’ll receive a case study in advance of each engagement and participate in a virtual focus group with mock jurors. During the session, the case is presented live, followed by juror breaks and a moderated discussion.

Your role is to help keep the discussion focused, ensure jurors remain on track, and provide an experienced trial lawyer’s perspective on what you’re hearing.

Following the session, you’ll also review and edit a case summary prepared by the company’s team.

Typical Engagement:

Approximately 2 weeks’ advance notice of new opportunities

Approximately 3-hour virtual focus group sessions

Sessions are generally held in the evening

Approximately 1–2 hours to review and edit the post-session case summary

Approximately 3 focus group engagements per month , although volume may vary

Work is conducted 100% virtually via Zoom

Engagements are offered on an as-needed, first-come, first-served basis

1099 independent contractor arrangement

Current compensation is $1,000 per focus group meeting for attorneys

Who We’re Looking For:

We are particularly interested in retired and semi-retired trial attorneys who have substantial courtroom experience and would enjoy applying that experience in a different setting.

The ideal candidate will:

Be an experienced trial attorney

Have an outstanding professional reputation

Bring strong courtroom judgment and an understanding of jury dynamics

Be an excellent listener and communicator

Be comfortable facilitating discussion and keeping a group focused

Be able to objectively evaluate how jurors respond to arguments and case themes

Be comfortable participating in virtual meetings

Be available for occasional evening assignments

Candidates located in Texas, California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Florida, or Pennsylvania are of particular interest, with Texas and Florida currently representing priority markets .

A Great Fit for Retired & Semi-Retired Trial Lawyers:

This role is designed to offer experienced litigators a way to continue using the skills they've developed over years in the courtroom—without the commitment of maintaining a full-time caseload.

If you’re a respected trial attorney who enjoys thinking about jurors, advocacy, persuasion, and how cases are received by a jury , we’d love to hear from you. Interested? Please reach out with your resume or LinkedIn profile and a brief description of your trial experience. Thank you!
