About The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior UX/UI Developer to design and build modern, intuitive, and production-ready user interfaces for next-generation AI-enabled legal applications.
This is a unique hybrid design-and-development position requiring strong expertise in both UX/UI design and hands-on frontend engineering .
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing exceptional user experiences and translating those designs into functional, scalable, and accessible web interfaces using HTML, Tailwind CSS, and Vanilla JavaScript .
The development environment emphasizes lightweight, server-rendered applications rather than heavy single-page application frameworks.
The successful candidate will contribute to sophisticated AI-assisted workflows involving document review, source-linked findings, complex data tables, approval processes, and interactive user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
UX/UI Design
Design intuitive, visually polished, and user-friendly interfaces for enterprise applications.
Translate business requirements and user needs into effective interface designs.
Conduct user research and improve designs based on stakeholder and user feedback.
Create reusable UI components, interaction patterns, and design assets.
Maintain consistent design standards across multiple applications.
Develop and improve shared component libraries and style guides.
Frontend Development
Develop responsive, accessible, and production-ready user interfaces using HTML, Tailwind CSS, and Vanilla JavaScript.
Convert UI/UX designs into fully functional frontend code.
Build user interfaces within server-rendered applications and template-based component systems.
Develop reusable frontend components that support maintainability and consistency.
Integrate frontend functionality into existing enterprise applications.
Participate in Git-based version control, code reviews, testing, and release processes.
AI-Enabled Application Interfaces
Design and develop interfaces supporting AI-assisted legal document review.
Build user experiences for source-linked findings and supporting evidence.
Create complex, high-density data tables and document review screens.
Develop interfaces for long-running processes, status tracking, and approval checkpoints.
Support document handling and downloadable work products.
Ensure complex AI-generated information is presented clearly and efficiently to users.
Collaboration and Quality
Collaborate closely with software developers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
Participate in Agile development processes.
Troubleshoot frontend issues and improve application usability and performance.
Ensure interfaces follow accessibility, usability, and maintainability best practices.
Support consistent design and development practices across multiple products.
Required Qualifications
Substantial professional experience in both UX/UI design and hands-on frontend development.
A strong portfolio demonstrating completed projects that include both interface design and production frontend implementation.
Advanced hands-on experience with HTML, Tailwind CSS, and Vanilla JavaScript.
Experience developing responsive and accessible web applications.
Practical experience with server-rendered applications and template-based component systems.
Experience with Git, code review processes, and CI/CD workflows.
Strong knowledge of UX/UI principles, design processes, and software development fundamentals.
Experience creating reusable components, design systems, and shared style guides.
Ability to standardize and maintain a consistent design language across multiple applications.
Experience working on AI-enabled applications and related user workflows.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders.
Availability to work onsite in New York City three days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with HTMX, Datastar, or similar hypermedia/server-driven UI frameworks.
Familiarity with reactive interfaces using server-sent events.
Experience with Azure DevOps.
Frontend testing and quality assurance practices.
WCAG accessibility validation.
Cross-browser testing and debugging.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are particularly interested in senior professionals who combine strong visual design judgment with hands-on frontend engineering expertise.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable taking an interface from initial concept and user research through design, development, testing, and production release.
Experience delivering complex enterprise applications, maintaining reusable UI components, and working on AI-enabled workflows will be highly valuable.
Candidates should demonstrate stable employment history or substantial long-term project experience, along with recent relevant work in the New York City market.
