Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for an experienced Sr. Principal Systems Engineer for the Payload Re-entry System (PRS) for the Sentinel Program , located at the Strategic Deterrence Division (SDS) headquarters in Roy, UT .
As a PRS Systems Engineer the primary job responsibilities are the following:
Perform requirements analysis, develop source data for requirements, generate requirements verification, and help prepare test plans and procedures.
Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for mechanical, electrical and integrated systems.
Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications
Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis.
Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for the systems engineering function.
Decompose parent level requirements into lower-level requirements as appropriate, based upon service life, use case, and CONOPS.
“Own” the environments for equipment; add derived environmental figures/tables when analyses are performed to the appropriate Environmental Criteria Document
Review internal and external vendor performance specifications and verification methodology
Support internal and external (vendor) Design Reviews
Supporting System Test engineers develop their test procedures to ensure correct requirements interpretation and verification
Review COTS to ensure meeting environmental requirements; identify deficiencies and recommend delta qual testing to verify compliance
Participating in Test Plan, Procedure, and Report peer reviews
Witness testing as the Cognizant Environments Engineer
Review Workmanship or Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) procedures; approve vibration and thermal cycle surveys
Support MRB/FRB as predicated during testing and screening events
Develop and review requirements, verification methods, descriptions, plans, and architecture
Participating in investigation of early issues and findings to understand if requirements are impacted, and to support criticality adjudication
Coordinating with REs and System Test to ensure integrated functions are ready for the test team to formally verify.
Interface with vendors and customers
Basic Qualifications
8 Years with Bachelors in STEM; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
Minimum 3 years of experience with MBSE tools
Minimum 4 years of experience with Core Systems Engineering (Requirements, Architecture, Interfaces, or Verification)
Minimum 1 year experience with any of the following tools and languages: DOORS, Cameo, MagicDraw, UML, SysML
Minimum 1 year experience interfacing with suppliers or government customers.
Minimum 1 year experience in requirement verification planning
Experience developing environmental qualification test plans and procedures for complex aerospace/defense systems
Experience overseeing environmental test setup and execution to ensure compliance with program requirements
Experience coordinating with internal and/or external test laboratories to define, set up, and oversee environmental test campaigns for electronic/mechanical hardware.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred degrees include (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace engineering).
3 years of experience with ICBM Weapon Systems
3 years of experience in Systems Engineering and any of the following areas:
Requirements Management: MBSE, Functional Block Diagrams, Specification Trees
Systems and end item requirements validation and verification
Design: Systems Design, Systems Architecture, Systems Integration, N2 Analysis, Trade Studies
General knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines: Safety, Nuclear Hardness, Nuclear Surety, Material Science, Environmental, Parts and Logistics, etc
Experience with CDRL development for customer review.
Experience executing System Milestone efforts such as: SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.
Active DoD Top Secret security clearance
Active SAP clearance
Familiarity with laboratory testing: Experience with climatic, vibration, mechanical/ pyroshock testing; understanding underlying principles, sensor placements and importance.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
