Job description
Position Summary:
The ServiceNow Developer designs and builds workflow applications that replace manual processes for the Mission Support Division, and does so in a way that holds up under audit: change-controlled, documented, logged, and supportable after the person who built it moves on. Because the role is part-time, disciplined intake and prioritization matter as much as technical skill. This is a hands-on development position with direct stakeholder contact, not a ticket-queue role.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and configure ServiceNow applications, forms, and workflows from stakeholder requirements.
Document modules and keep a log of everything developed and deployed, for audit and tracking.
Make sure all work meets federal IT standards and site requirements.
Provide operations support for deployed applications.
Track development tasks and projects, brief managers bi-weekly, meet deadlines, and flag delays with reasons.
Work with Mission Support Division staff so priorities are clear.
Follow cyber, physical security, and safety rules.
Develop and document ServiceNow development policies and procedures.
Support automation initiatives, recommend workflow improvements, and coordinate project requests in line with DOE, NNSA, and Naval Reactors IT guidance.
Deliverables:
Complete, documented ServiceNow module packages, correctly named and deployed to the designated environment. These are subject to Government QA spot checks.
A development tracking log that meets federal lifecycle and auditability standards.
A weekly status report covering completed tasks, outstanding work, risks, and recommended improvements.
A problem log for platform, software, and network issues, recording the date, time, description, and corrective action for each.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, or a related field, plus 2+ years of ServiceNow development or administration.
Proficiency in configuring, scripting, developing, and deploying across ITSM, ITOM, workflow, catalog, and custom applications, in compliance with DOE Orders, NNSA directives, FISMA/NIST, and Naval Reactors instructions.
Strong understanding of federal IT compliance for sensitive unclassified systems: change control, configuration management, auditability, secure workflow development, and documentation standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication, including presenting complex system information clearly to DOE and NNSA standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
ServiceNow CSA and CAD certifications.
Experience integrating ServiceNow with enterprise systems under federal compliance, and familiarity with secure development lifecycle requirements.
Experience writing IT procedures, SOPs, and compliance documentation, and spotting workflow improvements that support the mission.
Strong collaboration across federal contractors, government offices, site personnel, and technical teams.
Experience on a federal ServiceNow instance, or with DOE, NNSA, or Naval Reactors.
