Shear Operator / Maintenance TechPosition Type: Hourly / Full Time / In-PersonPay Rate: $19–$23/hour DOESchedule: 6:00am – 4:30pm Monday–ThursdayJob DescriptionThe Shear Operator / Maintenance Tech is responsible for safely operating metal shearing equipment to cut sheet metal to specified dimensions for production. This role also includes basic preventative maintenance, material handling, production support, and assisting with general shop and facility maintenance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and flexible in supporting other production tasks as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate metal shearing equipment to cut sheet metal to specificationsRead and interpret job orders, cut lists, and work instructionsSafely handle and move large metal sheets using proper equipment and techniquesInspect materials and finished cuts to ensure quality standards are metEnter production and material usage data into computer systemsFollow all workplace safety procedures and PPE requirementsPerform basic preventative maintenance including cleaning, oiling, and inspectionsFollow lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance or jam clearingAssist with machine, building, and grounds maintenanceSupport other production tasks when workload is lightMaintain a clean and organized work areaCommunicate effectively with supervisors and coworkersRequirementsPrevious shearing or metal fabrication experience preferredMechanical aptitude or maintenance experience preferredStrong commitment to workplace safetyBasic computer and data entry skillsStrong attention to detail and qualityReliable, punctual, and able to work independently or on a teamGood troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and move throughout the shiftAbility to safely lift and maneuver heavy sheet metalComfortable working around sharp materials and moving machineryAbility to perform repetitive motions in a manufacturing environment
