Shady Hills Energy Center Power Plant Operations LeadPlans, coordinates, leads and participates in all power plant operational and maintenance activities at Shady Hills Shady Hills Energy Center in order to meet system electrical load demands and maintain plant capacity at its highest attainable level while maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards possible while motivating and instilling ownership of plant equipment and processes by all team members.Work Location: Shady Hills Combined Cycle Facility (SHCCF) in Spring Hill, FL.Qualifications and Education RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent. Ten (10) years of experience in power plant operations to include five (5) years as a Control Room Operator is required. Combined experience in a maintenance craft and in the operation of combustion and steam turbines is preferable. Previous experience in the Operation of a Combined Cycle Power Plant is required.Core Competencies: Adaptable, Collaborative, Conscientious, Critical Thinking, Outcome-Driven, ProfessionalTechnical Competencies/Skills:Operation of combined cycle combustion and steam turbinesAuxiliary equipmentMaintenance techniques, practices and application for combined cycle combustion turbine plantsRoot cause analysis in problem solving and troubleshooting technical problemsFamiliarity with OSHA regulations and related industry Best PracticesFamiliarity with Environmental regulations and reporting requirementsFamiliarity with NERC Reliability Standards.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsSoft Competencies/Skills:Effective verbal/nonverbal, listening and written communicationsLeadershipDecisivenessCritical and analytical thinkingProcess orientedAttention to detailProblem solvingTime managementEssential FunctionsLeads Operations Technicians in the proper operation and maintenance of the plant to ensure proper understanding and implementation of procedures for safe, effective and efficient plant operation and maintenance.Implements required employee training programs to ensure completion of those requirements.Coordinates and oversees daily work of Seminole and contractor personnel during and after normal hours to ensure compliance with Seminole requirements.Leads and oversees activities of an assigned team on a 12-hour rotating shift.Develops system operational procedures and guidelines for approval by the Supervisor of Operations.Coordinates and participates in daily plant activities with other supervisors.Monitors proper inventory of materials and chemicals to ensure uninterrupted plant operation.Acts as the incident commander for plant emergencies in the absence of the Supervisor of Operations and Plant Management.Participates in the site Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) program.Effectively communicates plant status with supervisors and site management personnel.Coordinates and communicates with dispatch personnel to meet Seminole dispatch schedules and load requirements.Leads and reports troubleshooting efforts, equipment failures, environmental, and safety related incidents, takes short-term actions and follows up with long-term solutionsProvides daily operations reports.Performs as a project lead, a single point of contact for outage activities, including Outage Coordinator, as needed.Perform operations and maintenance technician level activities as needed.Develops and maintains a Subject Matter Expert level of knowledge for one or more major plant processes or systems.Takes a proactive approach regarding personal safety, safety of others and comply with all OSHA and SECI safety rules. Must complete all necessary online or classroom safety courses as directed. Must lead in safety briefings and meetings.Takes a proactive approach regarding environmental rules and regulations governing the operation of the plant. Must complete all necessary online or classroom environmental courses as directed. Required to immediately report any, and all, environmental reportable incidents.Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.NERC CompliancePerforms NERC Compliance Program roles if/as designated in Seminole's Standard Ownership Matrix (SOM) including ongoing evidence retention in "audit-ready" form. You should also be familiar with Seminole's Enterprise Internal Compliance Program (ENT-GCD-RGC-EP-054) to further your understanding of Seminole's compliance program and the context of your duties and responsibilities attendant to your designation in the SOM.Physical RequirementsMust be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Required to work in all areas of the plant site, both indoors and outdoors. Work in confined spaces and at heights greater than 200 ft. required. Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.Working ConditionsSome travel and work outside of normal business hours. While working in certain areas of the plant there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment. Work with high temperature, high-pressure steam and water systems as well as high-pressure air and fluids are required.
