You'll play a role in something that's never been done before as we integrate science and clinical care to help patients achieve better, faster outcomes.Job Title: Shift Sergeant, SecurityThe Shift Sergeant, Security will supervise Public Safety Officers on assigned shift, assist in the conducting of investigations of crimes and accidents, protecting property, facilities, and citizens by law enforcement, and performing related work as required. The Shift Sergeant, Security will consistently demonstrate support of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab statement of Vision, Mission and Core Values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute. The Shift Sergeant, Security will demonstrate Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Core Attributes: Communication, Accountability, Flexibility/Adaptability, Judgment/Problem Solving, Customer Service and Core Values (Hope, Compassion, Discovery, Collaboration, and Commitment to Excellence) while fulfilling job duties.Job Responsibilities:Supervises Public Safety Officers on assigned shift, including preparing shift schedules.Patrols hospital, ensuring service expectations are met and initiating corrective action as necessary.Reviews Public Safety Officer incident reports for accuracy.Monitors work performance of Public Safety Officers and conducts performance reviews.Provides support for investigating accidents and suspected crimes, reports findings, and pursues appropriate course of action.Assists in the training of Public Safety OfficersRepresents the Security department as a member of Emergency Response Team.May direct and control traffic; may issue parking citations in the parking garage.Performs other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.Reporting Relationships:Reports directly to Director of Security or Security LieutenantKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:High school diploma or equivalent education.20 Hour Security Training Certificate and PERC Card required.Valid driver's license and a good driving record is required.Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations and to determine proper course of actionKnowledge of City, and State laws as it relates to Public SafetyAbility to understand and follow oral written instructionKnowledge of geographic area of the campusKnowledge of effective methods of investigation with the ability to ascertain facts by personal contact, observations, and the examination of records.Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, the public, and other employees and exhibit outstanding customer serviceAbility to enforce laws firmly, tactfully with respect for the rights of othersAbility to supervise the work of othersAbility to operate law enforcement equipment required in the performance of required dutiesWorking knowledge of a variety of Security Systems related to IT SystemsWorking Conditions:Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.Must be able to stand and work for long periods.Occasional risks to personnel safety when confronting and restraining individuals2nd shift (3:00pm-11:30pm)Subject to work weekends and holidaysPay and Benefits:Pay Range: $19.52 - $33.46Benefits: Shirley Ryan AbilityLab offers a comprehensive benefits program that is competitive with our industry peers in our geographic locations.Equal Employment Opportunity EmployerShirley Ryan AbilityLab is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
