Shipping Clerk IISterling Heights, Michigan Day Shift: 6 am to 4:30 pm, Saturdays if required Contract position Pay Rate: $18.00 per hourDescription of the Shipping Clerk II:Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other recordsAffixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartonsAssembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containersInserts items into containersNails covers on wooden crates and binds container with metal tapeStamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containersPosts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postageUnpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to departmentsLoads and unloads small skids and cratesExamines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specificationsMaintains inventory of shipping materials and suppliesOperates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work areaPerforms light maintenance and cleaning of company owned trucksKeeps the Shipping and Receiving area neat and clean at all timesUnderstands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concernsAdheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvementRegular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the jobBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteEducation and Experience Requirements of the Shipping Clerk II:High School Diploma or GED; or six-months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceAt least one-year of Shipping & Receiving experienceAt least one-year of hi-lo experienceA successful candidate will be subject to a background check and must receive satisfactory results of the same, as a condition of joining the team.
