Shipping ClerkD & G Machine Products, Inc., a Certified ISO 9001 & AS9100D Company with a Main Plant located in Westbrook and a Fabrication Plant located in Gorham, Maine, has been offering full-service Precision Machining, Fabrication, Painted and Assembled Machine Products for more than 50 Years.D&G Machine supplies several Nationwide Industries that include: Aerospace, Computer Chip Production, Defense Contracts, Medical, Power Generation, and Maine's Paper Industry.D&G Machine employees have the opportunity to advance within the company after receiving valuable experience, as proven with a majority of our engineers and managers being promoted from the shop floor.JOB SUMMARY:The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating the company's incoming and outgoing shipments. Duties include packaging orders, scheduling shipments, and preparing accurate shipping documentation. The position requires effective communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues to ensure shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Prepare, package, label, and stage products for shipment.Prepare shipping documents, packing lists, bills of lading, and other required paperwork.Schedule pickups and deliveries with freight carriers and other transportation providers.Verify orders, quantities, shipping addresses, and product information before shipment.Track shipments and communicate delivery status or delays to customers, vendors, and internal staff.Maintain an organized shipping area to ensure materials are properly stored and staged.Operate shipping equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and overhead cranes.COMPETENCIES:Diversity - Demonstrates knowledge of EEO policy; Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; Educates others on the value of diversity; Promotes a harassment-free environment; Builds a diverse workforce.Ethics - Treats people with respect; Keeps commitments; Inspires the trust of others; Works with integrity and ethically; Upholds organizational values.Adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.Communication – Understand and communicate effectively with others using a variety of contexts and formats, which includes writing, speaking, reading, listening, and interpersonal skills.Dependability – Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles change, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, follows instructions, responds to management direction.Initiative - Volunteers readily; Undertakes self-development activities; Seeks increased responsibilities; Takes independent actions and calculated risks; Looks for and takes advantage of opportunities; Asks for and offers help when needed.Job Knowledge – Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills. Strives to continuously build job knowledge and skills.Judgement - Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Supports and explains reasoning for decisions; Includes appropriate people in decision-making process; Makes timely decisionsRequirementsREQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:High school diploma or equivalent required.Previous experience using common material handling equipment such as hand trucks, powered pallet jacks, and powered industrial trucks preferred.2-5 years of related experience preferred.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen, physical, and background check.WORK ENVIRONMENTThis job operates in a manufacturing environment in the Main Plant located in Westbrook, Maine. This role routinely uses standard material handling equipment such as hand trucks, powered pallet jacks, and powered industrial trucks. This role occasionally uses standard production equipment such as power tools and other mechanic hand tools. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to traverse the shipping/receiving area and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by positioning self to different heights and levels. The employee frequently moves objects and must use abdominal and lower back muscles. The employee frequently detects and operates hand tools. The employee must frequently position and/or move up to 50 pounds.
