Job description
Shipping Coordinator IIIThe Shipping Coordinator III performs activities related to the packaging, labeling, and shipping of finished goods. Communicates and coordinates with transportation companies. Handles routine questions and problems and maintains open communication with other departments throughout the shipping/delivery cycle. Confirms the accuracy of invoices, bills and charges relative to the shipment of goods. Logs order information into the computer and files and distributes paperwork as necessary. Maintains records and generates reports for accounting and other areas.Position ResponsibilitiesExecutes shipping processes including packaging, labeling and shipment of productIdentifies shipping requirements and best routes and methods for delivery to meet customer requirementsCoordinate shipments for commercial, DoD and international conveyance including all necessary documentation, schedule freight shipments with freight forwarders and carriers, verify shipments' compliance integrityPerforms administrative duties in support of activities related to the shipping of finished goodsIdentifies, tracks and maintains all necessary materials and documentation to support internal and external auditsDemonstrates ability to handle shipping internationally and navigate requirements & restrictionsResponsible for implementing best practices including safety requirements, maintaining desk proceduresWorks with Shipping Supervisor and Senior Shipping Clerk on all aspects of the operationWorks on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendationsReceives little instruction on daily work & general instructions on newly introduced assignmentsBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)High School Diploma or GEDHAZMAT ground and air shipping certification2 – 4 years of related experience; 2 years in a global shipping environmentExperience supporting FAA and DOT audits as well as administrative support experienceExperience utilizing UPS, DHL or FedEx online shipping systemPrior forklift experience and/or certification is preferredOther Qualifications & Desired CompetenciesDemonstrates good understanding of International shipping and customsPossesses strong organizational skills and attention to detailIs competent in the use of shipment processing and vendor related programsAble to effectively prioritize workload to meet scheduling demandsDemonstrates strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and Excel, and ability to learn new software and technologiesDemonstrates ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-drive environment, where small teams share a broad variety of dutiesDisplays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectivesTakes ownership and responsibility for current and past work productsIs committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others and the companyPhysical DemandsAbility to work in a warehouse environment (Constant)Ability to regularly stand for long periods of time (Frequent)Walk, handle, or feel with the ability to reach with hands and arms (Constant)Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (Occasional)Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. and carry/move objects of varying shapes and sizes (Frequent)Special RequirementsU.S. CitizenHave or the ability to have a DoD Security ClearanceMay be required to travel within the Continental U.S.The salary range for this role is: $23 - $35AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.ITAR Requirement: This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations ("ITAR") and/or the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR").
