Shipping & Mailing CoordinatorJob Category: University StaffEmployment Type: RegularJob Profile: Shipping and Mail CoordinatorJob Duties: Coordinates and executes shipping and mail services for a unit including inventory management and distribution, mail and package receipt and delivery, and shipping and/or delivery of packages for the UW-Milwaukee campus with an emphasis on superb customer service.Key Job Responsibilities:20% - Oversees incoming and outgoing shipments. Responsible for (package/mail) inventory management and distribution, mail and package receipt and delivery, and shipping and/or delivery of packages and freight. Utilizes standard machinery and equipment to load, unload, and transport freight and materialsSort, deliver, pick-up regular and intercampus mail.Pick up USPS mail and supplies at the Central US Post Office20% - Maintains records and manifests regarding incoming packages, location, and date of deliveryUse handheld scanner to produce barcoded delivery confirmationsUse MS Excel to enter data for barcoding programPrepare mail permits, present for inspection, and complete.20% - Determines policies and procedures related to mail and package receipt and deliveryUse meter machines to process outgoing campus mailReference postage charts to record proper postage for departmental chargebacks.20% - Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items outgoing or incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, packing slips, address labels and other recordsProcess packages with Computerized shipping software for all couriersPrepare customs forms for international packagesUse mailing lists to process multi-package postageRun reports from shipping software for monthly billing15% - Troubleshoots shipping issues and customer complaintsProcess notifications and assist in customer communications for delivery and pick upsInvestigate and troubleshoot lost or misdirected mail items.Check group email to help customers find packages and answer questions5% - Other Duties as AssignedTraining and guiding student workersSupport Stores and Work Order Center to meet operational needsCompensation:$17.00 - $20.00 per hour (Salary will be determined by finalist's knowledge, skills, and experience)Required Qualifications:Evidence of ability to lift and move objects up to 40 lbs.Willingness to operate (or learn to operate) a box truckMust possess a valid Wisconsin Driver license (or other such valid operator's permit recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation) and be able to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for driving on state business as detailed here: to work outside in extreme weather conditionsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in a customer service positionExperience using hand trucks, electric pallet jacks or similar equipmentHow to Apply:Interested applicants are required to apply online and provide a resume addressing your professional level work experience as it relates to all required and preferred qualifications.In instances where the Search and Screen Committee is unable to ascertain from the candidates' application materials whether they meet any of the qualifications, they will be evaluated as not meeting such qualifications. Employment is contingent upon successfully meeting these requirements.This position is not eligible for hybrid work and requires 100% onsite work.This position does not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
