Shipping & ReceivingAvalon and Tahoe - Alma, MI 48901OverviewSalary Range $17.60 - $18.35 Hourly Level Entry Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day Education Level High School Travel Percentage None Category WarehouseDescriptionJob Summary: The shipping & receiving personnel manage all incoming and outgoing shipments. Much of their work utilizes the MRP computer system. They work directly with many people from around the plant, such as material handlers and purchasing agents, as well as truck drivers and dealers.Key Responsibilities:Adheres to all safety policies and proceduresFollows all pre-established procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency of workUses hand truck, pallet jack, and various hand toolsCompletes all job duties within given time constraintsPerforms other duties as assignedCross-trains between several different jobsCompletes various activities, such as accepting deliveries and shipments, checking for order accuracy against the packing slips, receiving purchase orders in the computer system, printing part orders, transferring inventory, utilizing the last box function, preparing items to be shipped, entering shipments into the computer system, and working with dealers when they pick up ordersCleans and maintains work areaPursues continuous improvement to improve efficiency of job duties and work flowQualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDComputer skillsAttention to detailExcellent problem solving skillsGood verbal and written communication skillsNeeds good visual judgment to notice errors and/or defectsAbility to accurately read a tape measureAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to work in a fast paced, multifunctional team oriented work environmentAbility to work variable hours with short notice (up to 50+ hrs. per week)Ability to use hand tools and some power tools to construct shipping supports and cratesPhysical Requirements and EnvironmentMust be physically capable of safely lifting a minimum of 60 lbs. without assistance, pushing/pulling 150-300 lb. items with the use of hand trucks or pallet jacks some items are large and/or awkwardInvolves standing, bending, and lifting for long periods as requiredRequires repetitive movementIncludes and noise levels that are distracting and/or uncomfortableRequires wearing personal protective equipmentInvolves extensive walking and exposure to all weather conditionsRequires ability to hear and respond to radio communicationsRequires visual acuity for accurately receiving parts
