Job description
Shipping And Receiving ClerkSummary: Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Determines method of shipment. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons. Inserts items into containers. Makes sure all totes, boxes and crates are properly taped/labeled. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to departments. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.Competencies: Great attention to detail. Strong ability to read and understand paperwork.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma.Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
