Shop AssistantPark City - Park City, KS 67219OverviewPosition Type: Full Time Job Shift: Day Education Level: High School Diploma Travel Percentage: Less than 5% Category: ServiceDescriptionPosition Title: Shop Assistant Department: Service Reports to: Service Manager Vermeer Great Plains – 100% EMPLOYEE-OWNED COMPANY An authorized distributor for Vermeer equipment in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Western Missouri with five branch locations across the region. A 100% employee-owned company, we provide dedicated sales, rentals, parts, and service support for customers in the tree care, landscaping, wood waste, organic recycling, underground construction, and mining industries.POSITION FUNCTION: The Shop Assistant will assist the Service Manager and Service Technicians in maintaining a smooth running, efficient department by performing tasks and learning the basics of the industry.ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide general assistance around the shop, including administrative and technical tasksGreet customers and perform machine intake proceduresOpen workorders and add them to service schedule spreadsheetTake and upload digital pictures of equipmentHelp clean employee areasOperate equipment as necessaryClean and organize all shop toolsHelp maintain cleanliness, neatness and safety of shopPerform HDD tooling/piercing tool repairsStay current with the latest trends and developments within your field and industry by continuing your education with Factory Service Schools, VGP Service Schools, Individual Development Plans, etc.Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in Employee HandbookOther duties as assignedMeasure of success determined by established company guidelines, including but not limited to the ability to successfully perform the above-mentioned functions, feedback from customers, ability to take guidance and direction from Manager professionally, and execute upon such feedback.QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must be committed to and take a pro-active approach to our Company Mission, Vision and ValuesStrong PC proficiency with MS Windows and MS Office SuiteCapacity to analyze a situation and prioritize tasksFamiliarity with hand toolsAptitude for mechanics with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailDemonstrated safe work habitsHigh degree of customer service to both internal and external customersStrong ability to adapt to the people and environment around them - customers, suppliers, co-workers and manufacturer's employeesAbility to conduct yourself in a professional, ethical and reliable mannerStrong verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate professionally, respectfully and honestly at all timesMust be able to lift at least 50 lbs, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear 100% of the timeAbility to be exposed to extreme weather elements, including wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat regularlyAbility to withstand moderate to high noise level in working environment regularlyRegular attendance is requiredMust be able to work overtime and/or weekends as neededQUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma/GED and 1 year of experience in the same or similar role and/or industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience requiredEquipment operator experience strongly preferredMust have a valid unrestricted Driver's License and ability to maintain one throughout employmentBackground check, pre-employment drug testing and clean driving record requiredFLSA status: Non-exemptEOE
