A Shop Helper assists the team by maintaining a clean, well-organized work area and performing fabrication prep duties while learning the basics of many other positions in the shop.
Key Responsibilities:
Use a variety of battery and pneumatic hand tools including grinders, welder, drill, & hammer drill
Sandblasting
Prep parts to be fabricated including wishing parts
Drill holes and deburr parts
Use welder to fabricate fittings
Painting
Shop clean up
Operate forklift
Help in every department as needed
Demonstrate safe working practices and standards
Embody, demonstrate, and reinforce the #1ANDRITZway core values and behaviors and promote a positive work environment
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED
3+ years of experience assisting in a shop
Current forklift certification
Welding experience
Good construction knowledge
Good ability to use battery and pneumatic hand tools (grinder, drill, hammer drill, etc.)
Good communication and organizational skills with a willingness to work with others; ability to interact professionally and positively with all levels of personnel in the company
Demonstrate qualities that support a safe working environment
Majority of work is performed in a warehouse and manufacturing shop environment; exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, forklifts, and electricity in the manufacturing areas, noise level is usually moderate to high Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; must have ability to use close vision, peripheral vision, and adjust focus; required to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, crouch, walk, use hands and arms to reach for objects, carry, climb, balance, speak, and hear
