Helps perform moderate to complex repairs on engines, drive trains, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, electrical systems, instrumentations, trailer bulk product transfer, handling and storage systems and other necessary power equipment. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software. Additional responsibilities include general housekeeping duties in all terminal and shop facilities, as directed by the Shop Manager.Duties and Responsibilities:Assists mechanics in performing preventive maintenance inspections on tractors and cargo tank trailers.Assists with performing moderate to complex repairs on engines, drive trains, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, electrical systems, instrumentations, trailer bulk product transfer, handling and storage systems, and other necessary power equipment.Operate steaming machinery.Connect, monitor, and disconnect steam to the heating coils of a loaded cargo tank.Documents heating operations on a steam log.Compare product name on the bill of lading with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to verify product name is the same on both documents prior to conducting steam operations.BenefitsEmployee benefits: Discounted premiums for Medical, Dental and Vision plans, Flexible Spending AccountsBasic Life/Voluntary LifeShort Term and Long Term DisabilityFlexible Spending Account and Health Savings AccountEmployee Assistance Program401k Match & Roth Retirement Savings PlanWeekly PayRequirementsSkills and Abilities:Strong computer skillsAbility to carry out instructions accuratelyAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructionsAble to operate heavy machinery similar to steamer or boilerDemonstrate knowledge and understanding of mechanical componentsKnowledge of using standard hand and power toolsTeam playerEducation and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent required, trade or technical school graduate1-2 years of basic maintenance and/or mechanic experienceValid driver's licensePosition Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours depend on location.Work Environment:The shop has a climate similar to outdoor weather. Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 75 lbs.Able to fit into a 20" cargo trailer dome opening.Able to meet safety standards for fall protection harness – max weight 310 lbs.
