Job description
Shop HelperWe are seeking reliable and hardworking shop helpers to support daily operations in our steel manufacturing facility. This entry-level position assists welders, fabricators, and machine operators, helping keep the shop floor running safely and efficiently. It's a great opportunity! Spanish speakers also welcome to apply. Pay: $15-$16 per hour with overtime Shift: 1st and/or 2nd Key ResponsibilitiesAssist welders, fabricators, and machine operators with material handling, setup, and cleanupLoad, unload, and move raw steel, sheet metal, and finished products using hand trucks, forklifts, or overhead cranes (training provided)Cut, grind, deburr, and clean metal parts as directedOrganize and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work areaSort, label, and stage materials and finished goods for shipping or the next production stepPerform basic maintenance on tools and equipmentFollow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots)Perform other duties as assigned by shop supervisorsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED preferred, not requiredPrior warehouse, construction, or manufacturing experience a plus, but not required — willing to trainAbility to lift 50+ lbs regularly and stand for extended periodsComfortable working around heavy machinery, heat, and noiseBasic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hands-on skillsStrong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to follow instructionsAbility to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentForklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain)Physical RequirementsRegularly lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materialsStand, bend, kneel, and climb throughout shiftWork in an environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and machineryWear required PPE at all timesInterested candidates should stop by Nesco Resource between 9:30am-1:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays at 4111 S.
