You will be the heartbeat of our auction prep floor. You will lead our team of mechanics and detailers, keep parts, and labor on track, and ensure cars are ready to sell safely and on schedule.
Auto Auction Shop Manager Job Description
Role Overview
You will run the mechanical and reconditioning shop floor at our high-volume auto auction facility. You will lead a team of techs and support staff to make sure vehicles move fast and meet quality rules before hitting the auction block.
Core Responsibilities
Manage Daily Operations: Direct workflow for vehicle inspections, mechanical repairs, safety checks, and detail prep.
Lead and Mentor Team: Hire, train, and guide mechanics to keep shop output high.
Control Quality and Speed: Make sure every vehicle is reconditioned safely and on time for sale day.
Manage Budget and Inventory: Track parts costs, shop supplies, labor efficiency, and repair order metrics.
Solve Problems Fast: Handle mechanical disputes, inspection errors, or vendor issues quickly.
Qualifications: Essential Requirements
Experience: 3+ years managing an automotive repair shop, reconditioning facility, or dealership service department.
Technical Knowledge: Strong grasp of automotive mechanics, diagnostic steps, and reconditioning standards.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead a team, set clear performance goals, and manage daily shop logistics.
Administrative Skills: Comfortable with shop management software, basic budgeting, and inventory tracking.
License: Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
ASE certifications or equivalent technical training.
Experience in a high-turnover or auction environment.
