nJob Summary
nThe Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles. This position supports the Construction team and works with personnel within the department.
nResponsibilities
nnnInspect and repair company equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner.

nnPerform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
n
nnPlace orders for required parts, materials and supplies, as required.
n
nnPrepare and maintain records and reports.
n
nnMonitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
n
nnMaintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe and presentable manner.
n
nnProvide support and training for Mechanic I.
n
nnPerform other duties as required and/or assigned.
n
n nQualifications
nnnHigh school diploma, or equivalent.
n
nnValid driver's license.
n
nn3 years of experience.
n
nnKnowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
n
nnKnowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
n
nnAbility to do tune-ups, brake jobs (hydraulic), and basic wiring.
n
nnBasic diesel and drive train experience.
n
nnAbility to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
n
nnKnowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
n
n nPreferred
nnn4 or more years of experience.
n
nnDOT Certified Flagger.
n
nnCDL Class A license.
n
n nPhysical Demands and Work Environment
nThis job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
