Overview
Shoulder/Elbow APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) – FT Day – Redwood City. This is a 1.0 FTE full-time day position onsite at Stanford Health Care, 450 Broadway, Redwood City, CA.

Responsibilities
Evaluates and treats patients with acute, chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to the specialty.
Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new and return patients.
Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated upon evaluation of the patient.
Administers medications according to formulary protocol or with patient-specific approval from the supervising physician; transmits orders as appropriate. All controlled substances in Schedules II–V require patient-specific approval prior to transmittal per policy.
Orders and collects specimens for routine laboratory tests, screening procedures and therapeutic procedures, including blood and blood products.
Orders physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations and nursing services.
Performs designated procedures after demonstrated competency, according to written standardized procedures where applicable.
Obtains informed consent, initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges, and completes appropriate paperwork.
Enrolls patients in investigational studies approved by the IRB, and orders the necessary tests and medications as allowed; off-label use requires a patient-specific order from the supervising physician.
Assists the supervising physician in the operating room after appropriate training; acts as first or second assistant under supervision and performs surgical procedures in the presence of the supervising physician when applicable.
Recognizes age-specific needs of patients and communicates effectively with patients, families, staff and community members from diverse backgrounds.
Initiates life-saving procedures when necessary and coordinates inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed.
Facilitates collaboration between providers and coordination of community resources; ensures compliance with legal, regulatory and clinical policies and procedures.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives and provides patient teaching and counseling.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Note: PAs hired prior to July 1, 2012 are not subject to this educational requirement.
Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.
Licenses and Certifications
PA – Physician Assistant State Licensure
BLS – Basic Life Support
DEA – Drug Enforcement Administration

Compensation
Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $89.01 – $117.94 per hour. Final salary determined based on factors including internal equity, experience, education, and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a specific wage.
