Position Purpose
Best Friends Animal Hospital is hiring an Associate Veterinarian. This role is ideal for an experienced doctor seeking balance, consistency, and a collaborative team environment.
Location: 2118 Coteau Rd, Houma, Louisiana.
Compensation: $90,000–$100,000 per year plus a sign‑on bonus of up to $30,000.

Schedule and Work Style
Flexible 4‑day per week full‑time schedule Monday–Friday. No weekends. Predictable schedule with the ability to help with vacation coverage when needed.
What Your Day Looks Like
Manage a consistent caseload across three full days.
Collaborate with a supportive team of doctors and staff.

Maintain a steady, manageable workflow.
What You Need
DVM with experience in small animal medicine.
Strong communication skills.
Team‑oriented mindset.
Interest in long‑term stability and balanced scheduling.

Confident performing routine soft‑tissue surgery.

Essential Responsibilities
Examine, diagnose, and treat small animal patients.
Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
Perform soft‑tissue surgical procedures and dental treatments.
Interpret diagnostic results including lab work and imaging.
Prescribe medications and recommend preventative care.
Educate clients on treatment options and long‑term care.
Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
Practice medicine in accordance with veterinary ethics and regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
Appropriate state licensure.
Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; with assistance over 25 pounds.
