Job description
A well-established engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Project Civil Engineer / Project Manager to join its Houston team. This is a site development role focused primarily on commercial and private development projects, including retail, office, healthcare, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use developments.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for civil design, project management, permitting, client communication, and mentoring junior staff.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, and permitting of site development projects from concept through construction documents
Design and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control
Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies
Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and client expectations
Develop and maintain client relationships and assist with business development
Prepare and review technical reports, feasibility studies, stormwater documentation, utility reports, and specifications
Perform and oversee hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and SWPPP preparation
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
6-15+ years of site/civil land development experience
Background working on commercial development projects
Experience with grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater, and site layout
Familiarity with local permitting and development requirements
Strong communication and client-facing skills
Ability to oversee and mentor less-experienced staff
Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and stormwater design
