SkillBridge: Inspector ILocation: Kansas City, KS area or Colorado (Other locations may be considered)Job Description Start your civilian career where it matters most, in the field, building the infrastructure that connects America. Benesch, a nationally recognized leader in transportation and civil engineering, is offering a DoD SkillBridge internship for transitioning service members who want to gain real-world experience in construction inspection. As an Inspector I, you'll be on active construction sites supporting roadway, bridge, rail, and utility projects. You will work directly with experienced engineers and construction managers to track progress, document quality, and monitor field conditions. This is an opportunity to build career-ready skills while helping to ensure that critical infrastructure is delivered safely, on time, and to standard. This program is ideal for veterans with engineering, technical, or construction backgrounds who are looking to grow into careers in civil engineering, project inspection, or public infrastructure.Key Responsibilities:Observe and document daily construction activities on-siteCommunicate project progress and issues to the Construction Project Manager or Construction Technical ManagerMeasure and calculate quantities of installed materialsPrepare daily reports, field books, and documentation to meet agency requirementsInterpret site plans, specifications, and schedules to verify field complianceSupport conflict resolution before issues escalateMaintain safety standards and environmental compliance on the job siteEngage with contractors and stakeholders in a professional mannerUse construction instruments, tools, and software to support documentation and analysisIdeal Candidate Profile:You are a service member preparing to transition from the military who:Has served in a technical, engineering, or construction-related MOS, AFSC, or RatingWants to work in the field, not behind a deskIs motivated to learn the ropes of civil construction and inspectionHas a strong eye for detail, is observant, and communicates wellIs dependable and takes initiative under pressureValues mission alignment, fieldwork, and contributing to real-world impactRequirements:Minimum Requirements:Must be active-duty military with SkillBridge eligibilityWithin 180 days of separation at time of program startHigh school diploma or equivalentValid U.S. driver's license with a clean motor vehicle recordAbility to work outdoors in field conditionsStrong communication and problem-solving skillsWillingness to travel regionally if requiredAbility to obtain industry certifications (training provided)Military Occupational Alignment:Army (MOS): 12A, 120A, 12B, 12T, 12N, 12X, 12ZAir Force (AFSC): 32EX, 62EX, 3E5X1, 3E6X1Navy (Rating): EA, CEC, EDO, BU, CE, CM, EO, SeabeesMarine Corps (MOS): 1361, 1371, 1302, 1316, 1345Coast Guard (Rating): ENG, CIVBenesch provides ongoing training, certification support, mentorship programs, and development opportunities, ensuring a clear path to career advancement in the construction and infrastructure sector.Equal Opportunity and Compliance Statement:Benesch and BufferSprings are Equal Opportunity Employers.
