Slitter OperatorMetals USA is seeking a Slitter Operator for our Union, NJ location. Metals USA is a leading metals processor/distributor in North America, providing a wide range of carbon steel products and services. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Sets up burning machine, selects proper burning tip, sets gas flow and machine feed rates, location of cutting, lines dimensions, tolerances, operational sequences and uses gauges, calipers, squares, rulers for measurement.Sets up and aligns specified material or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, shims, or hand tools.Chooses correct material for the job according to work order. Inspects plates for thickness, length, width, heat number, grade specification and color code.Coordinates and executes material handling to be processed including operation of overhead crane.Reviews CAD drawings, work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications.Performs quality control inspections on finished product; for ISO-certification.Stacks, bands, and palletizes finished products for shipment.Performs the duties of a warehouse worker to include operating a forklift & overhead crane.Metals USA offers competitive wages and benefits plus upward mobility towards professional growth.Metals USA is committed to protecting our employees by creating and maintaining a workplace free of substance abuse.Metals USA provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability.Requirements:High School/Technical School Graduate with basic English reading & writing comprehensionBasic arithmetic skills to calculate & convert decimals and fractionsBasic measuring skills to read English & Metric systems and a tape measure, caliper or micrometer.Experience of operating an overhead crane, forklift, hand tools and common shop machineryBasic computer knowledgeAbility to understand and use Safety Rules and Procedures as well as OSHA standards and regulationsMust exercise a reasonable degree of judgment and possess the ability to recognize appropriate company policies that apply in each situation and follow themMust be able to understand customers packaging requirements and assess product qualityWork as a Team memberCertifications/Licenses:Valid OSHA Forklift & Overhead Crane Certificates preferred
