nResponsibilities

nWhat You'll Do

nAs aSpeech-Language Pathologist, you will evaluate residents, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide skilled therapy services designed to improve communication, cognition, swallowing, safety, and overall functional independence.

nResponsibilities include:

nnnPerform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations based on resident needs

n

nnDevelop individualized treatment plans focused on meaningful functional goals

n

nnProvide skilled speech-language pathology services in accordance with physician orders and established plans of care

n

nnTreat communication disorders involving speech, language, voice, and cognition

n

nnEvaluate and treat swallowing and feeding difficulties to promote safe and effective intake

n

nnAddress cognitive-communication challenges that may impact safety, independence, and participation in daily activities

n

nnProvide therapeutic interventions designed to improve communication, comprehension, expression, memory, reasoning, and problem-solving

n

nnEducate residents, families, and caregivers regarding treatment strategies, communication techniques, and swallowing safety

n

nnRecommend appropriate compensatory strategies, adaptive techniques, and communication supports when indicated

n

nnParticipate in resident care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings

n

nnAssist with discharge planning and provide recommendations to support successful transitions

n

nnMaintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations

n

nnCollaborate with nursing, physicians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team

n

nnMonitor resident progress and modify treatment approaches as clinically appropriate

n

nnPromote a safe, supportive, and positive rehabilitation environment

n

n nOur Speech-Language Pathologists work with residents experiencing a variety of rehabilitation needs, including:

nnnStroke and neurological recovery

n

nnAphasia and other language disorders

n

nnDysarthria and motor speech disorders

n

nnCognitive-communication challenges

n

nnMemory and reasoning deficits

n

nnDysphagia and swallowing disorders

n

nnVoice disorders

n

nnFunctional communication difficulties

n

nnGeneral cognitive or functional decline

n

nnLong-term maintenance and quality-of-life goals

n

n nQualifications

nWhat We're Looking For

nnnMaster's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

n

nnCurrent Massachusetts license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist

n

nnCertificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred

n

nnExperience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or a related healthcare setting preferred

n

nnStrong clinical reasoning, evaluation, and treatment planning skills

n

nnKnowledge of current speech-language pathology practices and applicable regulatory requirements

n

nnExcellent verbal and written communication skills

n

nnAbility to collaborate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members

n

nnStrong organizational and documentation skills

n

nnCompassionate, patient-centered approach to care

n

nnAbility to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative therapy team

n

nnCurrent, valid CPR/BLS credential, as required

n

nnVerification of qualifications and licensure as required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health

n

nnThis position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
