The Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University seeks one full-time Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling.
Responsibilities include:
Teach counseling courses and utilize generalist teaching skills for core counseling curriculum, which includes culturally sustaining content and strategies across the foundational curriculum, in keeping with CACREP standards.
Academic (individual and group) advising.
Curriculum development and/or oversight.
Provide clinical supervision of students as needed related to clinical courses.
Support departmental program projects and events.
Provide service to the School and University.
This is a renewable, non-tenured position with an initial three-year appointment beginning August 2027.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include: A doctoral degree in counseling or counselor education (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) from a CACREP-accredited program.
A doctoral degree in a related field and previous employment as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of 1 full academic year before July 1, 2013.
Teaching experience in counseling-related courses, including clinical courses and counseling core curriculum.
Demonstrated identity as a counselor educator and clinician as evidenced by sustained participation in professional activities, scholarly activities, and service to the profession.
Clinical experience in the field and clinical supervisory experience.
Preferred qualifications: LPC licensure
LMFT licensure
Marriage, couple, and family counseling experience
One to three years teaching experience
