About The Solarpunk Sanctuary
The Solarpunk Sanctuary is an open-source non-profit project developing practical guides, living syllabus materials, and decentralized tools focused on permaculture, food preservation, seed saving, off-grid systems, and community resilience.
About the Role
We are seeking thoughtful Social Media & Community Outreach Volunteers to help establish, curate, and grow our official presence on Bluesky . You will help share concise, practical tips from our living syllabus while building relationships with like-minded creators, permaculturists, educators, and community resilience projects.
You do not need to be a professional marketer, we operate on high autonomy, low friction, and mutual respect. We structure tasks to be bounded, practical, and stress-free.
Choose Your Track (or Mix & Match)
Track A: Content Curator & Writer
Extract concise, practical tips from our living syllabus topics (e.g., seed saving basics, canning principles, solar maintenance) and format them into clear, engaging Bluesky posts or short tip threads.
Track B: Networker & Community Connector
Discover, follow, and thoughtfully engage with relevant accounts across Bluesky (permaculture nodes, open-source toolmakers, community gardens, and educational projects) to build quiet, long-term connections.
Track C: Value-Added Re-sharing & Curation
Identify high-quality third-party posts related to self-reliance and community care, re-sharing them to our feed with brief, original commentary that connects the content back to the Sanctuary’s core mission.
+ Engaging with post comments and other community engagement strategies, related to your posts.
Qualifications & Ethos Fit
Familiarity with or eagerness to learn Bluesky’s platform and culture.
Clear, constructive, and welcoming written communication skills (no foul language or combative rhetoric).
Commitment to representing the Sanctuary in a strictly non-partisan, non-political manner, focusing purely on practical skills, ecological stewardship, and open-source utility.
Time Commitment
Flexible. Whether you want to take responsibility for a single weekly thread or spend an hour networking, tasks can be shaped around your personal schedule.
What We Offer
High creative freedom within clear, transparent community guidelines.
Official documentation and verification letters for university credits, OPT hours, or professional portfolio proof.
Direct experience helping launch an open-source civic initiative from the ground up.
