Job description
Play a vital role in supporting the social and emotional development of elementary students by joining this contract opportunity for a School Social Worker. Situated in an engaging educational environment near Flint, MI, you'll work directly with K-5 students and be part of a dedicated school community.
You'll serve a manageable caseload of 30-40 students in either general education or special education settings, all within one school campus. With a schedule of 2-3 days per week from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, you'll find a healthy balance while making a real difference in students' lives.
Qualifications:
Fully certified with a School Social Work endorsement (required)
Previous experience working with elementary-aged children
Ability to identify and support social, emotional, and behavioral needs
Proven collaboration skills with teachers, parents, and external agencies
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Responsibilities:
Provide direct and indirect social work services to K-5 students, focused on enhancing school adjustment and academic progress
Conduct individual and group counseling to address emotional and behavioral challenges
Develop and implement intervention strategies tailored to student needs
Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to create supportive educational plans
Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation of services
Serve as a resource for crisis intervention and prevention services
This position is onsite, providing you the opportunity to build authentic relationships and offer hands-on support. Hybrid or teletherapy options are not available, ensuring your full presence within the school's daily life.
