Role Description:
As a Software Engineer - Recent Grad (Traffic) you will help design, build, and operate traffic management and routing systems that improve availability, performance, and network security. You’ll contribute to high-performance, low-latency architecture development and work with modern infrastructure (including Kubernetes) to support reliable services at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop traffic solutions: Build and maintain services/tools to manage and optimize traffic flow using Java, C++, or Go.
Optimize network security: Implement and improve secure traffic patterns and controls (e.g., secure service communication, safe routing, hardening, policy enforcement).
Manage scalability on Kubernetes: Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot services running on Kubernetes across distributed environments.
Develop high-performance, low-latency architectures: Improve latency and throughput through efficient design, profiling, and performance tuning.
Monitoring and incident support: Use logs/metrics/traces to debug production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive reliability improvements.
Multi-functional collaboration: Partner with SRE, platform, and application teams to integrate traffic and networking solutions cleanly and safely.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Graduate of a full-time accredited Masters degree program within the United States. Graduated no earlier than Fall/Winter 2025 or Spring/Summer 2026.We are currently only considering Masters candidates for this role.
Programming: Proficiency in Java, C++, or Go (data structures, concurrency basics, debugging).
Understanding of/Experience with Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, load balancing, TLS fundamentals.
Systems fundamentals: Understanding of Linux and distributed systems basics.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Kubernetes, containers (Docker), and service-to-service networking.
Familiarity with Envoy or similar proxies/gateways (NGINX, HAProxy).
Observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
Experience with performance profiling, benchmarking, and latency reduction initiatives.
Exposure to PoP/edge concepts or global traffic steering is a plus.
