Lead Engineering at Scale — Where AI Meets Enterprise Impact
Our client, a leading enterprise technology company managing a high-volume, 24x7 data platform for Fortune 500 clients across North America, is seeking a hands-on engineering leader to guide a development organization. This is a rare player-coach role: you'll mentor engineers through design reviews, drive AI-assisted engineering adoption, and shape technical strategy alongside the CTO — all while unifying onshore, nearshore, and offshore teams into one high-performing organization.
What You'll Do
• Manage engineers (employees + consultants) across mobile, web, and back-end teams — hiring, coaching, and performance management
• Partner with Project/Product leadership on resource planning, capacity, and delivery alignment
• Champion AI-assisted development (agentic coding, AI code review, AI-generated tests) with clear guardrails
• Own engineering standards: code quality, PR review, test coverage, and CI/CD gates
• Guide architecture toward cloud-native services (Azure Kubernetes Service)
• Unite global teams with shared standards, overlap hours, and cross-location collaboration models
• Partner on incident response, RCA loops, and SOC 2 compliance
Must-Haves
• 10+ years in software development, 3+ years leading 10+ engineers
• Hands-on with .NET/C# plus progressive Front End and Mobile
• Experience leading teams on high-availability, high-throughput, real-time platforms
• Proven functional management in matrixed SaaS environments
• Track record integrating onshore/nearshore/offshore teams
• Strong Agile/Scrum and CI/CD experience (Azure DevOps or similar)
• REST API and system integration experience
• Practical use of AI coding tools with team-level governance
• Strong SQL Server skills at scale
Nice-to-Haves
• Background in IoT or data-intensive B2B SaaS
• Azure PaaS / AKS and containerization experience
• Event streaming/caching (Kafka, Redis, Service Bus)
• Geospatial/mapping API experience
• SOC 2 or similar compliance experience
• Legacy modernization without disrupting delivery
