Opportunity Overview

Teradyne is seeking an experienced Software Quality Applications Manager to lead a team responsible for customer-facing software quality initiatives, field application engineering support, and product validation activities.

In this role, you will serve as a bridge between customers, software engineering, product management, quality engineering, and field teams to ensure high-quality software solutions are successfully deployed and supported. You will drive quality improvements, establish best practices, and lead teams focused on software validation, customer enablement, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.

This role combines technical leadership, people management, customer engagement, and quality engineering expertise.

Consistent with Teradyne manager-level expectations, this position leads professional teams, establishes operational objectives, and drives execution of initiatives that impact customer success and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of Software Quality Applications Engineers supporting customer accounts and product lines.

Act as the primary escalation point for critical customer quality and reliability issues.

Partner with Teradyne internal software engineering, Release teams, marketing, and customer support teams to investigate and resolve customer issues.

Partnering with marketing and sales teams to bring in customer presentative programs to Engineering for early customer acceptance regression for various market segments

Managing customer test program inventory for IP access and storage in Engineering

Drive root cause analysis for customer escapes using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, Fishbone Analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

Establish and monitor key quality metrics, including defect trends, field reliability, customer feedback, and corrective action effectiveness.

Lead customer-facing technical reviews, quality audits, and business reviews.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Coordinate corrective and preventive actions across global teams and ensure timely closure of quality actions.

Support new product introduction activities by providing field quality insight and risk assessments.

Develop processes and best practices that improve issue resolution and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Partner with senior leadership to communicate quality performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Support customer deployments, transitions to newer SW versions and escalations while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Develop and implement test strategies, validation frameworks, and process improvements that enhance product quality and customer experience.

Collaborate with global engineering teams to improve product reliability, usability, and performance.

Facilitate knowledge sharing and establish best practices across engineering and applications teams.

All About You

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

7+ years of experience in software quality engineering, software testing, field applications, product validation, or related technical disciplines.

Prior people leadership experience or demonstrated success leading technical teams and projects.

Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and software quality engineering principles.

Experience with software validation, test automation, defect management, and quality management systems.

Working knowledge of root cause analysis, CAPA, FMEA, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively across global and cross-functional teams.

Experience working directly with customers to investigate and resolve technical issues.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting semiconductor test, automated test equipment (ATE), industrial automation, or advanced manufacturing solutions.

Knowledge of test automation frameworks and modern software quality engineering practices.

Experience working in Agile development environments.

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or similar certification.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other quality standards.

Experience managing customer escalations and driving cross-functional resolution.
