Job description

Solar Photovoltaic TechnicianResponsible for assisting the Solar Technician to assemble, install, or maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. This may include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules.Responsibilities:Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and proceduresUse appropriate hand tools and power tools to perform a variety of functions to install photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics, and instructionsLay-out, assemble and install solar modules, panels, or support structures, as specifiedInstall structural, mechanical, rack system and PV panelsLift, carry and hold building materials, tools, and supplies; clean tools, equipment, material, and work areasTake reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principlesIf needed, use your stop work authority until the issue is resolvedReport all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation process as neededParticipate in all pre-job work planning and safety discussions; Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate and/or mitigate hazardsUnderstand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devicesUnderstand, support, and follow lockout/tag out procedures. Attend site specific training and assure you follow all procedures as out lined in trainingFollow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environmentCoordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the jobActively participate in on-the-job training and mentoring opportunities with co-workers in your craft when providedProduce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standardsWith regard to that portion of the work assigned, assist in the storage, planning and lay-out of materials in accordance with those plans and specificationsLearn to observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Notify supervision of any hazards observed and utilize safety stop work authority as neededExamine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and continuous improvement measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed reporting any issues to your supervisionIf certified to operate equipment ensure that construction equipment is correctly operated, maintained, in good working order, and Daily Equipment Inspections are completed for equipment being utilizedPerform all other actions necessary to accomplish the foregoing principal duties and accountabilitiesWork in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervisionPerform all other job related duties as requested by supervisorQualifications:Education and Work Experience Requirements:Use effective verbal and written communication skills.Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accuratelyLearn to read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensionsExperience working as a laborer or in any construction craft as a helper, and a basic knowledge of working in Solar Photovoltaic construction craftDeveloping knowledge of the assembly, installation, or maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systemsAbility to understand and follow directionsMust be at least 18 years of ageKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiencyEvaluate work and safely utilize appropriate hand tools and power tools for the work being performedUse effective verbal and written communication skills.Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accuratelyListen to co-workers suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations giving full attention to what they are saying and take the time to understand the points being made, asking questions and providing feedback when appropriateWhat's in it for you:Financial Wellbeing:Compensation: $18 - $20.50 /hourly, commensurate with experience401(k) with company match & Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)Flexible spending account (Healthcare & Dependent care)Health & Wellness:Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance (plan choice) - coverage for spouse, domestic partnership.MasTec, Inc. is an equal employment opportunity employer.
