Position Summary:
Westwood Elementary is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Special Education Paraprofessional to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students in grades K 5. This individual will work under the direct supervision of the special education teachers and building administrator, providing instructional and behavioral support in classrooms, small group settings, and one-on-one as needed. This role plays a key part in helping students access their learning, meet IEP goals, and thrive in the general education environment when appropriate.
Essential Job Functions:
29 hours per week, 8:45-11:45am Monday-Friday
Provide instructional support to students with disabilities under the direction of special education teachers
Implement accommodations, modifications, and individualized behavior and academic plans
Support students in both general education and special education settings
Assist with classroom management, transitions, and organization
Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
Foster a supportive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students
Maintain confidentiality and follow district and legal guidelines regarding student information
Qualifications: Experience working with children, especially those with special needs, is highly desirable
Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in dynamic situations
Strong communication and teamwork skills
