nPOSITION PURPOSE
nThe Rehabilitation Services Staff Speech-Language Pathologist provides evaluation and treatment of hospital patients in a range of specialty programs.
nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
nnnMaintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.

nnMaintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Chelsea Hospital. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
n
nnMaintains knowledge to perform the duties of the job. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.

nnDemonstrates competency with individualized assessment of patients using a wide variety of assessment measures and procedures.
n
nnProvides a thorough speech therapy evaluation and creates an appropriate plan of care based on the patient deficits.
n
nnFormulates individualized, age specific, therapy goals based upon assessment results and patient needs.
n
nnImplements patient care in a manner consistent with the therapy goals and the changing needs of the patient using a variety of therapeutic approaches.
n
nnOrients patients and families to the therapeutic purposes and procedures of Speech-Language Pathology, and educates them about home programs, impairments and progress.
n
nnProvides for own professional growth and education and contributes to staff development activities.
n
nnStays up to date on all participating insurance guidelines for rehabilitation services.
n
nnProvides thorough documentation on each patient interaction. Documentation must be timely and include all pertinent information required by state law, accrediting agencies and 3rd party payers.
n
nnCompletes daily charges for each patient while adhering to ethical practices per insurance guidelines for each payer.
n
nnWorks with Manager, director and/or front desk staff to ensure schedules are managed well to achieve targeted productivity and clinic budget.
n
n nOTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
nPerforms other duties as assigned.
nREQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
nEducation: Master’s Degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
nExperience:
nCertification/Licensure:
nnnCertificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

nnLicensed in the State of Michigan
