Responsible to: Clinical Services Supervisor

nJob Summary:

nProvide speech/language therapy services to individuals with Autism, Intellectual Disability and/or mental illness as outlined in their Treatment Plan. Services are to be provided in accordance with New York State practice act guidelines for Speech/Language Therapy Services, the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association as well as in accordance with all company, state and federal standards and regulations; as well as within all regulations and requirements set forth by the organizations with which the company collaborates.

nEssential Job Duties:

n-Reviews all available documentation related to the individual prior to beginning treatment; including the IEP, script and prior evaluations if available

n-Develops an appropriate treatment plan for each individual

n-Performs treatments according to accepted professional standards and practices

n-Conducts ongoing assessment of individual during each visit, and modifies goals/outcomes/treatment plan accordingly

n-Creates daily visual schedules, activity schedules as needed

n-Trains and supports other personnel in appropriate strategies to build expressive/receptive language skills

n-Implements Alternative and Augmentative Communication systems, as appropriate, for non-verbal or limited verbal youth

n-Performs appropriate parent/caregiver education and develops home programs as necessary

n-Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, utilizing communication with all team members to enhance the treatment program of the individual

n-Maintains an accurate schedule, meets program productivity standards

n-Submits all required documentation of visits according to established procedure

n-Performs evaluations timely and as assigned and when necessary

n-Communicates with families on a regular basis

n-Keeps abreast of legal responsibilities, professional ethics, standards of practice and agency rules, policies and regulations.

n-Provides for own professional growth by attending continuing education and in-services; tracking this to assure compliance with state licensing requirements

n-Discontinues therapy when child no longer meets eligibility requirements

n-Maintains client confidentiality with HIPPA/FERPA and agency guidelines

n-Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by their direct supervisor

nMinimum Education Required:

nMaster’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology/Communication Disorders

nMinimum Experience Required:

n1-2 years’ experience with individuals with developmental disabilities

nLicense/Registration/ Certifications Required:

n•NYS Driver’s License

n•Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped Certification in NYS

n•Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology (CCC-SLP)

nTraining Requirements:

n•New Hire Orientation

n•Minimum of 30 hours of Continuing education per licensing period (3 years) as per NYS Office of Profession guidelines

nPhysical Requirements:

n• The constant physical demand of the position is sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, vision to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. Employees need to be able to get on the floor and play.
