n$34.89 - $47.10

nThe referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

nResponsibilities:

nGENERAL PURPOSE

nProvides services to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication and swallowing disorders in children and/or adult population. This is a position for inpatient rehab.

n• Candidates with experience with acquired brain injury (CVA, TBI) and/or spinal cord injury are strongly encouraged to apply.

n• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

n• Minimum of 1 day per month.

n• Holiday and weekend coverage required.

n• Must have CCCs and have or be eligible for full (not provisional) NYS SLP licensure.

n• Unfortunately, clinical fellows will not be able to be considered for this position.

nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

nnnPerforms and interprets speech and language evaluations for patients with communicative disorders and those requiring more specialized care, such as patients with dysphagia, laryngectomy and aphasia.

n

nnPlans and provides speech and language therapy and intervention based on evaluation results.

n

nnDevelops and initiates treatment programs for more complex patients, including Plans of Care.

n

nnProvides counseling, education, and guidance to patients and their families regarding disorder(s).

n

nnAdapts existing resources to meet patient and caregiver needs.

n

nnMaintains comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) for each patient.

n

nnCommunicates through written reports, flowsheet documentation, and other EMR specific tools.

n

nnRecommends changes in standard departmental practices.

n

nnWorks collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines.

n

nnConducts clinical teaching with medical students and undergraduate/graduate students from various colleges/universities.

n

nnProvides education and in-services to hospital faculty and staff regarding speech and language, communication, and swallowing disorders.

n

nnMay identify potential research projects and assist with the design and implementation of clinical research and data collection activities.

n

n nOther duties as assigned.

nMINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

nnnMaster's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and 1 year of clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology in a health care setting required

nnOr equivalent combination of education and experience

n

n nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

nnnExcellent verbal and written communication skills required

n

nnAbility to work collaboratively and build strong team-based relationships required

n

nnFlexibility and problem-solving skills required

n

n nLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

nnnEligibility for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology upon hire required

n

nnNew York State license in Speech-Language Pathology upon hire required

n
