St. HOPE Public Schools Speech - Language Pathologist

Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education, the Speech - Language Pathologist will work with staff and families to coordinate special education service delivery for students in need of speech and/or language support. In addition, this person may work with staff and families to provide preventative support to students not yet identified as needing special education services. Candidates must hold the belief that all children can succeed academically and socially and this belief must drive him or her to be relentless in his or her work. The Speech and Language Pathologist reports to the Director of Special Education.
Responsibilities of the Speech and Language Pathologist will include: assessing students' communication skills for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment; collaborating with a variety of groups and/or individuals for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing services in compliance with established guidelines; coordinating meetings and processes for eligible students for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing treatment plans, and/or providing training to parents/students/staff; developing treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with regulatory requirements; instructing assigned support staff for the purpose of providing information on communicative disorders, use of assistive devices and feeding techniques and/or implementing prescribed treatment plans; instructing eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies for the purpose of minimizing the adverse educational impact of communication disorders in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements; interpreting medical reports within the scope of Speech/Language Pathologist's experience and goals for the purpose of providing information and/or ensuring that treatment/intervention plans are appropriate; maintaining files and/or records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance; participating in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information; performing other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit; performing site visits at multiple work sites including home visits for the purpose of providing therapy and assistance as required; preparing a wide variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information; and providing speech and language therapy to students for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success.
Qualifications: We are seeking a results-driven leader committed to the St. HOPE Public Schools mission, high expectations and his or her own professional growth. Required: Masters Degree, Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential. Highly Desired (but not required): At least 2 years of full-time working in an urban, underserved community, Bilingual speaking, reading, and writing abilities (Spanish).
Salary: St. HOPE Public Schools offer a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Starting at $105,000.
