Job description

Speech Language Pathologist - SLP / Communication Specialist

Elevate Communication in the Vibrant Culture of Memphis – Become a Speech Language Pathologist

Imagine a career where every word you help someone express brings renewed hope and connection. As a Speech Language Pathologist in dynamic Memphis, your role transcends the treatment of communication and swallowing difficulties; it is about realizing potential, rebuilding confidence, and nurturing relationships. From helping children articulate their first words to guiding seniors in regaining their independence, your impact will be profound.

This position presents an extraordinary chance to engage with individuals through all stages of life within a setting that merges outpatient therapies with occasional inpatient care. Whether your passion lies in pediatric speech development, working with adults with neurogenic disorders, or rehabilitating cognitive-linguistic skills in older adults, you'll find a fulfilling role tailored to your expertise.

Conduct comprehensive evaluations for patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations through validated assessments and keen observational tactics.

Craft individualized treatment strategies that cater to both immediate and enduring communication, cognitive, or swallowing needs.

Deliver focused one-on-one speech therapy sessions that enhance communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing abilities.

Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams — including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and families — to develop holistic care plans.

Engage patients and families in education that empowers progress outside of therapy sessions.

Provide support with inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions to ensure seamless continuity of care.

Maintain precise and timely records following state, federal, and organizational mandates.

Keep abreast of emerging trends and advancements in the field via continuing education and collaboration with peers.

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.

Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA-certified.

State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of starting employment.

Expertise in evidence-based treatment modalities for all demographics with a comprehensive understanding of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.

Exceptional communication skills to foster collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to tailor therapeutic approaches to respect diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Strong clinical acumen and capacity for problem-solving.

Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation protocols.

Attractive compensation based on experience.

Flexible schedule options for improved work-life integration along with a diverse caseload.

Opportunities to specialize in pediatric, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric services.

Paid time off (PTO) and holiday remuneration.

Health benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.

Support for continuing education and professional growth.

A collaborative environment focused on excellence in care and lifelong learning.

Stepping into this role means more than providing quality speech therapy; it's about engaging with a community that values the power of words, enhancing human connections, and creating unforgettable moments through the sacred act of communication. Here, you will collaborate with teammates who feel like family, in an environment that emphasizes synergy over competition. Every individual has a story; we trust you to help narrate it in a way that matters.

Living in Memphis offers an extraordinary blend of cultural vibrancy, rich history, and southern charm. Famous for its blues music and barbecue, this city has a rhythm that celebrates art, community, and innovation. Picture evenings spent enjoying live performances on Beale Street, family gatherings in lush parks, or exploring the numerous art galleries and museums that grace the area. Outdoor enthusiasts can revel in nearby natural wonders, while bustling marketplaces and eateries cater to culinary adventurers.
