Job description
A Day in the Life of a Speech Language Pathologist with WesleyLife At Home:
Your day begins by reviewing your visit schedule and preparing for each client's unique goals. Because you're working in-home, you get a full picture of your clients' lives-their routines, challenges, environments, and strengths. This context enriches your therapy and allows your interventions to be practical and personal.
Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities in the home environment
Identify functional strengths and challenges that impact daily living
Develop tailored treatment plans based on evaluation findings and patient-centered goals
Provide individualized, targeted therapy to improve communication, cognitive function, and swallowing safety
Integrate therapy strategies into clients' natural routines and environments
Address communication, cognition, and dysphagia needs with a whole-person approach
Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to support communication and swallowing at home
Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team including nurses, PTs, OTs, and care coordinator
Qualifications: Valid Iowa driver's license
Current vehicle insurance
Currently licensed as a Speech Therapist in the state of Iowa
Graduate of an accredited speech-language pathology master's program
Previous home health or direct patient care experience preferred
